Medication Delivery to Homes of People with Hemophilia During Government-Imposed Restrictions

Dear supporters of the Czech Hemophilia Society, as we understand the complexity of these times, we want to help solve one of the problems you may be facing -- access to medication. Several of you have already expressed concerns about the availability of drugs and about travelling to your hemophilia centre. We have even heard of cases where such fears have led to the discontinuation of prophylaxis. As we have already assured you, there is a sufficient supply of medication in our country and no supply disruptions are currently expected. Interrupting your treatment regimen is therefore unwarranted and may, on the contrary, lead to much more serious complications. We would like to make access to medication easier and give you the option of obtaining it without having to leave the safety of your home. In cooperation with the management of the Czech National Hemophilia Program, we have contacted the centres with an offer to deliver medication from the centre to patients via courier. We are offering this service primarily as assistance to those who cannot visit their hemophilia centre in person because they belong to groups at risk of COVID-19 infection.

How will it all work? Fill in the form at https://forms.gle/noQJaMbragHAsC5FA and submit it using the button at the end. You will receive a confirmation email with a summary of the information you entered in the form. Call the phone number of the clinic where you usually order your medication and agree on the next steps. If the hemophilia centre requires a copy of the form from your email, ask for the address to which you should then forward this email. The centre will confirm the order and, if necessary, add additional details. If a telephone order is sufficient for the centre, you do not need to forward the email. It may happen that your hemophilia centre does not wish to send medication via courier; in that case, please let us know and arrange a suitable alternative procedure with the centre. We have contacted all centres, but unfortunately we have not received feedback from all of them regarding whether they will participate in the project.

The Czech Hemophilia Society will try to arrange a courier to deliver your medication from the centre. Coordinating the deliveries will be demanding, so we want to consolidate multiple orders from one centre into a single delivery run. We therefore cannot guarantee you an exact delivery date in advance. However, we will do our best to arrange everything as quickly as possible and will keep you informed about the status of your order. Everything will also depend on the volume of requests we process.

We hope this will at least take one worry off your shoulders.
