Prague Will Light the Petřín Lookout Tower in Red

Every year on 17 April we observe World Hemophilia Day to raise awareness about hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other blood clotting disorders. This is its main purpose, because with increased awareness comes better diagnosis and access to treatment for thousands of people. The motto of this year's World Hemophilia Day is "Get + involved." Whether you are hemophilia patients yourselves, affected by von Willebrand disease, family members, a corporate partner, volunteer, or anyone who sympathizes with our Society, we want to encourage you to help raise awareness about the disease.

Our joint gatherings at interesting places across the Czech Republic, awareness events, or press conferences have always been an integral part of World Hemophilia Day. This year too, hemophilia will be widely discussed in the media. However, the highlight of this year's celebrations is undoubtedly the fact that the Czech Republic is joining the World Federation of Hemophilia's initiative and, as a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the celebrations, will illuminate one of Prague's landmarks on 17 April - the Petřín Tower. The lookout tower will be bathed in the symbolic red colour representing World Hemophilia Day at 8:11 PM and will remain so until 6:00 AM. We thank the Prague City Hall, Mayor Zdeněk Hřib, councillor Eva Horáková, and everyone who took care of the technical aspects. Renáta Navrátilová also played a significant role, and we would like to thank her as well.

And how can you get involved? Quite simply. Almost everyone has a phone with a camera, as well as various symbols in red - a T-shirt, scarf, face mask, bracelet, the red badge "I support hemophilia treatment," or anything red - there are no limits to your imagination. Just take a photo and share it through our Facebook profile (tag the Czech Hemophilia Society in your post), or send it to us by email. We will take care of publishing it not only on social media but also on our website (by sending a photo you consent to its use). We will also share the efforts with our international partner organizations, the World Federation of Hemophilia and the European Haemophilia Consortium. Let us stay connected remotely in this way too and show the strength and solidarity of our organizations. Let us make it clear that even in difficult times that the world is currently going through, we can support each other. Therefore, "Get + involved" - it costs nothing, just a few minutes of your time.

Below you will find inspiration for how you can participate.

We would also like to remind you that our offer to deliver medications from the hemophilia center to your home via courier is still in effect, in connection with the current state of emergency. All information can be found in the article on our website.
