A Sunny Haemophilia Weekend

A Sunny Haemophilia Weekend

The second November weekend belonged to everyone who wanted to learn about new developments in haemophilia treatment -- above all, to obtain information about current changes in social affairs, to discover the importance of psychological counselling in managing this disease, or to meet friends and exchange experiences with each other.

Around seventy members of the Czech Hemophilia Society and Hemojunior, their family members and partners, accepted the invitation to the pleasant setting of Hotel Jezerka on the shore of the Seč Reservoir. As Vladimír Dolejš, Chairman of the CSH, mentioned in his opening remarks, this was the largest joint event to date, and we can now say it was a very successful one.

A packed programme accompanied the participants throughout both days. After the opening lecture on "Prophylaxis from Birth to Old Age," participants had the opportunity to learn about fundamental changes in social care for people with disabilities for the coming year and for 2015. The opening session concluded with a topic from the field of psychological counselling. The lectures engaged participants so much that they agreed to shorten the break so that more space could be given to discussion and questions in the subsequent workshops. Everyone thus had the opportunity to discuss what interested them, not only with the experts present but also among themselves.

The discussions naturally continued even after the official part ended, whether during sporting activities at the bowling alley or in the very pleasant surroundings of the local wellness centre. The organisers also thought of our youngest ones. So that parents could attend the entire programme without worrying about their children, "nannies" stepped in, creating an engaging programme for the children in the local play corner.

The weekend stay also featured experienced physiotherapists who regularly participate in reconditioning stays organised by the CSH and who, whether through expert consultations or exercises, also contributed to the successful stay of all participants in the Železné hory (Iron Mountains) region.

The meeting at the pleasant Hotel Jezerka was organised by the Czech Hemophilia Society in cooperation with Hemojunior, primarily thanks to the financial support of the company Baxter.
