Prof. MUDr. Otto Hrodek, DrSc. has passed away - founder of Czech paediatric haematology

Prof. MUDr. Otto Hrodek, DrSc., the founder of Czech paediatric haematology, to which he had devoted himself since the 1950s, passed away on 4 June, shortly before his hundredth birthday.

Prof. Hrodek also left an indelible mark on the treatment of haemophilia in our country. He always advocated a comprehensive approach to treating this disease, striving to provide affected boys not only with substitution of the missing factor, but also with optimal rehabilitation, timely indicated surgery where it could improve quality of life, psychological support, and assistance with career choices.
