Podcast with MUDr. Ester Zápotocká
ČSH

While Czech hemophilia patients have access to the latest treatment products, globally only one in ten hemophilia patients is properly treated. "In this regard, we live in a very exceptional country," praises the availability of the most modern treatment in the Czech Republic paediatric haematologist MUDr. Ester Zápotocká, who was the guest of the second episode of the podcast Na vlastní žíly. The show's host Michal Bereň talked to her not only about the therapy of this rare bleeding disorder.
Doctor Ester Zápotocká has known many of her patients since birth or their first steps. As a physician at the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Motol University Hospital, she accompanies young hemophilia patients from the earliest age until their transition into adulthood. She takes care not only of the correct treatment settings that allow patients to live with as few limitations as possible, but also helps their families obtain the necessary information and establish contact with patient organisations. In her work, she draws on experience gained during a professional placement in Toronto, Canada.
The second episode of the podcast Na vlastní žíly provides answers to questions about whether COVID-19 vaccination is suitable for people with hemophilia and what to keep in mind. You will also learn why physiotherapy plays an irreplaceable role in the treatment of hemophilia, what hemophilia care looks like in Canada, and many other interesting facts.
