Minutes of the CSH Correspondence Meeting
To expedite the process, the Council proceeded with a correspondence exchange of opinions and voting via the internet. Participants: M. Bohun, V. Dolejs, P. Grim, J. Kalabova, M. Skorepa, V. Toth. Did not participate: N. Zidkova. The correspondence took place on December 17 and 18, 2015.
1. The main item was Hemojunior's proposal to organize a CSH and HJ ball. After discussion, the term "ball" was changed to "social evening." HJ obtained the opportunity to hold the evening at the Hotel Alcron in Prague on February 19, 2016, free of rental charges, but with the need to pay for catering costs. After negotiations between HJ Chairman Michael Beren and Hotel Alcron management, the need to pay CZK 765 per participant for a buffet was presented, with the hotel providing only a 10% discount. In addition, M. Bohun offered to provide his own wine (estimated CZK 10,000), and Society member J. Rousar offered a band for CZK 10,000. The Society and HJ would need to arrange bar service, cloakroom, and similar services. With an expected attendance of 100 people, costs would amount to approximately CZK 100,000, with the condition that everything must end by 11:30 PM, after which quiet hours must be observed at the hotel. During preliminary negotiations with HJ in November, the Council had already approved the necessity of charging an entry fee of CZK 200 per person, with two complimentary tickets offered to each treatment center and all cooperating sponsors. After a very long and extensive debate, CSH Council members voted on whether to organize the event under these conditions at all, with the following result:
For (with significant reservations): M. Bohun, J. Kalabova, M. Skorepa
Against: V. Dolejs, V. Toth
Did not vote: P. Grim
By a vote of 3:2, the Council decided to join the organization of the Social Evening. V. Dolejs will inform HJ of the decision.
2. V. Dolejs informed about the allocation of a Ministry of Health grant in the amount of CZK 58,870 for the project "Support for Patient Organizations." The condition is that the funds must be spent by December 31, 2015, and the amount may not be used for 2016, even as an advance payment. Given that the decision is dated November 23, 2015 and was delivered on December 9, the Council is forced to decline the grant. It is earmarked for organizing a regional workshop, which is no longer feasible given the time constraints at the end of the year. V. Dolejs asked the Council to approve a proposal to send a protest letter about the schedule directly to the Minister and to alert the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic to the manner in which funds designated for the grant are being handled. M. Bohun and V. Toth disagreed out of concern about deteriorating relations with the Ministry; the protest will not be sent. CSH will return the already transferred amount to the Ministry.
