April Belongs to People with Hemophilia

As has become a good tradition, people around the world who wish to commemorate World Hemophilia Day gather in April. It falls on the seventeenth day of the month and provides an opportunity for many interesting events -- some landmarks in world capitals even light up in red. It is no different here. In recent days, hemophilia has been the main topic of several social and sporting events.

The day before the campaign's culmination, a long-prepared benefit concert took place at the Zizkov Theatre of Jara Cimrman, combined with the launch of the CD "Honza Rousar and Guests -- Dedicated to the Czech Hemophilia Society." Honza Rousar, himself a person with hemophilia, worked on the project for more than two years and involved many artists. Among those contributing lyrics were Milon Cepelka, Ester Kocickova, and Jarmila Moosova. Besides Honza Rousar, the performers include Ondrej Ruml, Eva Dvorakova, Ivana Korolovoa, Martina Trchova, Nada Valova, Jakub Hubner, Ruda z Ostravy, and Vaclav Tobrman. The last two also hosted the evening.

The very successful evening was concluded by local artist Milon Cepelka, who also christened the CD. The theatre management supported the project by offering only a symbolic rental fee, thus becoming a sponsor deserving of great recognition. Enormous thanks go to the artists who participated in the CD and the concert, especially Honza Rousar, as well as all other project partners.

If you are interested, you can support the project by purchasing the CD. Contact us at info@hemofilici.cz, and we will send you the disc for CZK 250 plus postage. The CD will also be available for purchase at other Society events, which will receive the proceeds from the concert and sales.

The sports complex of football club Dukla Praha lit up in red on Saturday. The April weather was truly unpredictable, with outdoor temperatures swinging up and down. Despite the cold weather, a large number of participants of all ages found their way to the stadium, and the view of the grassy pitch invited them to take advantage of one of the available activities.

Until the kick-off of the FK Dukla Praha vs. Baumit Jablonec match, the local training pitch was swarming with children and adults. Refreshment stands offered SodaStream beverages to quench thirst, the "Original Czech Street Bistro" arrived with an offer of excellent hot dogs, and cotton candy was available for those with a sweet tooth.

As dozens of red balloons appeared above the stadium, participants headed to the stands to get an autograph from one of the famous athletes. They could meet, for example, Dukla footballers Michael Krmencik and Nestor Albiah, athlete Ladislav Prasil, or legend Vera Caslavska.

Meanwhile, the players were warming up on the pitch and everything was being prepared for the ceremonial culmination of the "I Support Hemophilia Treatment" campaign. Eleven young athletes put on t-shirts with the campaign logo and accompanied the Dukla players onto the pitch. Just before the opening whistle, representatives of the Czech Hemophilia Society and Hemojunior received a cheque for CZK 40,000 -- the total proceeds from the sale of charity merchandise.

If you also participated, we kindly ask you to fill in a short questionnaire. You can express your opinions and suggestions, which are very important to us.

This year, we are continuing with the sale of charity products until stocks run out. You can still support us at https://podporujihemofiliky.cz/e-shop
