Identification Items for People with Bleeding Disorders

Identification Items for People with Bleeding Disorders

One of the main tasks of the association was to develop standardized emergency medicine procedures for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders and proposals for corresponding identification items. We have fulfilled these requirements. The Czech Hemophilia Society and Hemojunior, in cooperation with the Emergency Medical Service, have prepared a set of special identification items for all individuals with blood clotting disorders that can save lives.

  • An injury during sports, a car accident, or a sudden stroke can come unexpectedly and have devastating consequences. Even more so for a person with a blood clotting disorder.
  • Quick and properly targeted assistance in administering a blood derivative and transport to the appropriate hemophilia center can save your life even if you are unconscious.
  • If an emergency medical service worker sees a bracelet on your wrist with information about your health condition, finds a marked insurance card, or an identification card for a person with a congenital blood clotting disorder, they are required to follow a special protocol and, without delay, administer the appropriate derivative and contact the hemophilia center.
  • This quick and properly targeted assistance has not been a given until now. If you carry these identification items with you, you will help both yourself and medical personnel recognize the need for special treatment.

These four items can help identify that the person has a blood clotting deficiency and direct life-saving efforts in the right direction.

Members of both organizations (with duly paid membership fees) will receive one identification package free of charge (excluding postage), non-members for 200 CZK + postage. The identification package contains: an identification bracelet, an insurance card sticker, an identification card for a person with a blood clotting disorder, and a thermal bag. Identification items can also be ordered individually (e.g., some already own the identification card). Each member of the Czech Hemophilia Society or Hemojunior is entitled to one identification package free of charge. In case of loss, we will issue a new identifier for a fee.

Thanks to the cooperation with the BodyID company, you can also use an optional online health profile. This is a service that allows rescuers, in case of an accident, to access additional information via the internet or SMS that does not fit on the identification bracelet: personal data, contacts for close persons, additional health information (allergies, etc.), prescribed medications, or any other optional information. Documents, typically medical reports, can also be uploaded to the online health profile. The profile also has an English version for use abroad. The standard price of the service is 99 CZK/month; BodyID offers hemophilia patients 2 years of free use. More information at: www.bodyid.cz.

Practical (optional) accessories that you can add to your bracelet with a 30% discount:

The BODY ID bracelets from the association have the basic form described above. However, for those of you who would like to add more information to your bracelet, BodyID has prepared many options. Check out the practical examples, and as members of the Czech Hemophilia Society and Hemojunior, BodyID offers a 30% discount on the prices listed in the e-shop.
