The Last Time in Vísky?
ČSH

During the week of 11–19 May, another edition of the rehabilitation retreat for adult hemophilia patients took place. Most likely for the last time in a while at the Ohrada guesthouse in Vísky near Letovice. While the guesthouse meets practically all our requirements for holding this retreat, the general consensus is that it is time for a change. We are currently searching intensively for a suitable location and for now it looks like next year we will head to the Orlické hory mountains. Jarek Trefil shared his impressions from the retreat. We thank Jarek and look forward to further gatherings with everyone. On behalf of the organisers, Michal Skořepa.
We have another gathering behind us, (this time the third time's a charm) in Vísky near Letovice.
And that the third time truly was a charm is confirmed by the fact that this was the largest turnout ever, and we filled the entire building. Not just the rooms, but we were everywhere — whether it was the restaurant, the common room, the pool, or the rehabilitation tables. Good spirits and pleasant buzz or children's laughter and shouts were everywhere. After all, a record eleven children came. During the now-traditional table tennis tournament, we sometimes literally had to queue for the table. And the same goes for a spot by the grill. Nobody wants to miss this already classic "procedure," especially when the smell of grilling meat tickles your nose and triggers your taste buds. And the fact that we were staying in a brewery, with plenty to wash it down with, was the icing on the cake. Then Honza's guitar completed the atmosphere of an almost summery evening.
Fortunately, nice weather prevailed over rainy days, so we could enjoy the whole stay with plenty of lovely trips, whether to the ostrich farm, Porč's Mill in Býkovec, the nearby top Baroque chateau of southern Moravia in Lysice, or the Empire-style one in Boskovice, or the partial ruins of the Gothic castle Svojanov. And when the rain did catch up with us, the magnificent Sloupsko-Šošůvské caves sheltered us in their stunning interior.
But I must not forget the main reason this retreat took place — the daily rehabilitation. As every year, our experienced physiotherapist friends took care of us in this regard, stretching our deformities every morning. In addition, guided pool exercises were added, which really put us through our paces and helped all the more. A big thank you goes to all of them — namely Alča, Bětka, Naďa, and the returning Terka. And of course to the one who "masterminded" it all, Michal. Those who wished could also warm their bodies in the sauna or bubble in a whirlpool bath. And the fittest and bravest could also shake things up with hippotherapy.
In summary, it was really wonderful and nobody wanted to go home. We are already looking forward to new experiences at a new location, where the old crew will surely be joined by new friends.
On behalf of everyone, Jarek Trefil
