Personal Thanks From the Chairman of the Czech Hemophilia Society

As we all know very well, the EHC Congress took place in Prague on the last weekend of October. Our organisation became a co-organiser, which meant enormous commitment from the entire preparatory committee. Unfortunately, the burden of preparations fell on a very reduced number of Council members of the Czech Hemophilia Society.

I became the chairman of the preparatory committee many months ago, but in the tense final weeks, I unfortunately had to step down due to illness. Vice-Chairman Martin Bohůn took over the work and brought everything to a successful conclusion. Council member Jana Kalábová -- many know her by her maiden name Dvořáčková -- also helped considerably, but the greatest credit for the Prague success goes to Martin Bohůn.

I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank him for everything he did for the success of the conference. He was not a substitute, but the true leader of the preparations. His communication with the EHC board, its appointed congress agency in Dublin, Ireland, and all institutions here at home took a great deal of time and required immense effort. Martin handled everything, almost single-handedly, with flying colours and earned himself applause in open session at the congress.

So, Martin -- sincere thanks from me and certainly from all members of the organisation. Without you, we would probably have had to cancel the congress. And that would have been quite an international embarrassment.

Vladimír Dolejš, Chairman of the Czech Hemophilia Society
