Summer haemophilia camp returns to Zubri in 2023

After a one-year break we are returning to Zubří in Vysočina. For all participants who have already been here, this is certainly welcome news. The team of counselors and medical staff will welcome the campers on Sunday, July 9 and the stay will end on Friday, July 21.

Allow me to briefly reminisce about the past year and mention the outlook for the coming one.

Advances in the Treatment of Hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease

From 11-13 November 2022, a workshop organized by the European Haemophilia Consortium took place in Marseille, France, focusing on new technologies in the treatment of hemophilia and other rare bleeding disorders. The Czech Hemophilia Society was represented on site by Vice-Chairman Martin Žídek and MUDr. Pavel Mazánek, who serves as Deputy Head of Haematology at the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Biochemistry at the University Hospital Brno.

The laureate of the annual award for 2021 is Mr Vaclav Toth, former economist of the Czech Hemophilia Society.

Marseille and Madrid Advance to the Final, Prague Unfortunately Eliminated

Despite the great efforts of all those involved, we did not manage to get our capital among the top two cities in the bid for the World Hemophilia Congress in 2024. Yesterday's meeting of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Executive Committee decided that France and Spain will compete for first place. We will know the winner by the end of this year.

From 1 July 2022, a new travel discount applies to persons with third-degree disability.

However, the pilot year was so successful that mothers now willingly sign up their sons and husbands for the weekend camps themselves.

Prof. MUDr. Otto Hrodek, DrSc., the founder of Czech paediatric haematology, to which he had devoted himself since the 1950s, passed away on 4 June, shortly before his hundredth birthday.
