In a new episode of the Na vlastní žíly podcast, host Michal Bereň talks with Michal Skořepa – a person with haemophilia who has dedicated decades to serving the community. They discuss childhood with the diagnosis, the transition to home treatment, sports and the importance of patient organisations. A friendly and inspiring conversation that will encourage everyone living with haemophilia.

What can haemophilia take from you – and conversely, what can it give? This open and inspiring interview with Michal Skořepa, a long-time active member of the Czech Haemophilia Society, will show you that life with haemophilia can be not only manageable, but also rich, active and full of human encounters, friendships and meaningful work for others.

In this new episode of the Na vlastní žíly podcast, we return to the "prehistoric" times of haemophilia treatment in Czechoslovakia, when children could not go to school and treatment meant daily trips to the hospital. Michal Skořepa openly talks about how haemophilia isolated him in childhood, but how changes in treatment – especially the transition to home therapy – gave him back his freedom, friends and the opportunity to live life to the fullest.

You will hear not only about the childhood wheelchair and later rediscovery of the joy of movement, but also about how haemophilia helped Michal stay grounded and build solid values. You will learn why physiotherapy is still a key part of an adult haemophiliac's life, how reconditioning stays for adults work, and why an active patient community is still needed today – for example, as a prevention against forgetting proven treatment principles.
