Podcast with Hemojunior Chairwoman Kateřina Altmanová

A healthy person has a hundred little men in their blood who rush to a wound to seal it, while a hemophilia patient has only one such little man. This is how simply the chairwoman of Hemojunior, Kateřina Altmanová, explains the concept of hemophilia to the youngest children. She is the first guest of our new podcast Na vlastní žíly. Its host is hemophilia patient and former Hemojunior chairman Michael Bereň, who invites interesting personalities from the field of hemophilia to the microphone to discuss important and unusual topics related to this disease.

The guest of the first episode of the new podcast is Kateřina Altmanová, who has extensive experience with hemophilia. Her family has been living with this condition for several generations. Her son Péťa suffers from it, as do her mother and sister, who are carriers. Katka herself also has a reduced level of factor VIII, so she has practically lived with hemophilia her entire life.

In the first episode of the podcast, you will learn why Katka decided years ago to join a patient organisation with her son, and what she sees as the greatest added value of summer hemophilia camps. However, the topics she and host Michael discussed are far broader. You certainly have a lot to look forward to.

"Currently, I cannot imagine not being part of Hemojunior. My son and I have found many friends and acquaintances there. I think it is very important for children to know someone else who has similar problems," explains Katka Altmanová.
