Adult Rehabilitation Retreat in Rokytnice, Orlické Hory

During the week from 18 to 25 May, another rehabilitation retreat for adult haemophilia patients took place. At this new venue too, we ran into capacity limitations and registration for the retreat had to be closed as early as February. For those who attended, however, Penzion Rokytenka offered a pleasant setting and a beautiful environment not only within the property grounds but also in the surrounding area. At this point, we are deciding whether to return here next year or take advantage of another option with a higher capacity. And how did we spend our week in Rokytnice? The contribution from Radim, who participated in the retreat for the first time, says it all. We thank him for his lines below and look forward to further gatherings together. Hi, my name is Radim. I recently became a member of the Czech Hemophilia Society and for the first time I took advantage, together with my girlfriend, of the offer for an adult haemophilia rehabilitation retreat, which this time took place in Rokytnice v Orlických Horách. At first I did not know what to expect from the retreat or what awaited us there, but I must admit that my concerns quickly proved unfounded. The pleasant setting of Hotel Rokytenka where we were accommodated, the beautiful nature in the surroundings, and above all the great group of haemophilia patients, thanks to whom it was a pleasantly spent week.

During the stay, I was glad to take advantage of the rehabilitation sessions, which helped me loosen up my stiff body and focus on specific joints, muscles, and so on — for which I am very grateful. While the morning programme was generally reserved for rehabilitation, in the afternoons we spent time on excursions around the area, where there were many interesting places — from the Hanička fortress right in Rokytnice to the Častolovice chateau and more — so that in the evening we all gathered in the hotel clubroom where group entertainment took place. During the retreat, my girlfriend and I met a lot of great people, among whom we will gladly return, and we look forward to the next meeting, whether at a future rehabilitation retreat or another event organised for haemophilia patients.
