Rhodes 2021

Shortly after publishing the article about the trip to Greece, we received two more contributions from participants. It is not often that an event generates so many written responses, and since we value each one, we are presenting them in a new article. Adding them to the original one could risk them being overlooked. So this is not information about another trip, as a different article title might suggest.
We also have the opportunity to add information about the number of participants. A total of 28 people went to Greece, including 8 haemophilia patients. Were it not for the aforementioned problems, there would certainly have been more of us — 12 people withdrew over the course of time.
In the euphoria of our Olympians' shooting success, I must note that Czechs certainly know how to aim. We achieved the same result as our shooters in our darts competition. Michal and Soňa left the rest of the world behind and likewise took the first two places. It was certainly not such a prestigious competition, yet the Czechs made a name for themselves at the Lardos Bay hotel. And not only in sport, but also on the dance floor. When the live music started, it was initially empty. Only until Jarek stepped in, however — he got not only the members of our group dancing, but subsequently other groups as well. Especially the Italians, whom we really impressed. Not only with how sociable we are, but also with Moravian slivovitz, the effects of which incapacitated the local entertainer...

I think the trip to Rhodes was a great success. The weather was sunny, the temperatures quite high, the sea warm and just a few steps from the hotel. We went on excursions across the island in rented cars or by bus. We visited everything from the southern tip of Prasonisi — the confluence of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, a paradise for surfers and other water sports — through various historical monuments on the western part of the island. The coolest spot on the island — the Valley of the Butterflies — the capital city of Rhodes with its many beautiful monuments. On the way back we visited renowned beaches. The hotel was very cosy, clean, with friendly and pleasant staff. The haemophilia patients also used the pool for morning exercises led by Naďa. During the morning, an entertainment programme ran, and some women joined yoga or Pilates sessions. We also enjoyed aqua aerobics, darts, table tennis, and water polo. We had a lot of fun. We spent our evenings in various ways, individually or in groups — playing games, walking along the beach, or with music. There was plenty of entertainment, and everyone found something to their liking. Everything went without major complications, even though travelling is not exactly simple these days. We are already looking forward to the next trip, which we will undertake in better times, without restrictions. Some participants flew for the first time, and I think everyone will draw energy and memories from this trip for a long time.

A wonderful holiday. I feel good that I joined the group of haemophilia patients going to Rhodes. Before departure, though, I was still hesitating whether I should go. I was worried about whether I would have all the documents about having had COVID with a more severe course. I managed everything and now I am happy that I did not give up. I think it was a good choice to go to Rhodes. We had accommodation with a balcony, fresh and tasty food, warm and clean sea. Most of us rented a car and set off to explore the beauties of Rhodes. It was well worth it. I was personally thrilled by the confluence of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. Stunning. The narrow streets and stalls in the old capital city were also great. None of the shopkeepers waved souvenirs in my face as happens in other countries, and that suits me — shopping in peace and looking around. In conclusion, I must say that with a travel agency I would never have seen or experienced what I did with this wonderful group. I thank everyone who contributed to organising this holiday and I applaud them.
