The Holiday Season Is Upon Us

Before we even realised it, the Christmas season is here again. It repeats year after year, yet it is always a little different. What is it about Christmas that never grows old, that makes us once again immerse ourselves in preparations to celebrate it with dignity, peace, and comfort? Perhaps it is because during this time we feel the need for togetherness more than at any other time.

The multitude of tasks that the Christmas holidays place before us makes the pre-Christmas period perhaps the most demanding of the entire year: cleaning, baking cookies, finding gifts, sending Christmas greetings, preparing Christmas Eve dinner, and all of this alongside everyday obligations at work and in the family.

The end of the year also brings an opportunity to reflect on what was achieved in the past period and what lessons can be learned for the future. Many things did not turn out as we had hoped, but most we managed to accomplish. The year 2017 was marked by numerous activities, new challenges, and several changes for the Society. All important matters are regularly reported on the website, and an overview of activities for the past six months is also featured in the current issue of the hemophilia newsletter.

It was a pleasure to meet you at our joint events, and we would like to continue them in the coming year. We also thank those members who have actively sought to get involved in CSH activities. We will certainly not ease up in our collective efforts.

We wish you a Christmas full of joy, comfort in your family and among close friends. Some of us reflect and set new goals and resolutions, which are sometimes very ambitious and usually take effect from New Year's Day. Let us please add to them respect for our fellow people, tolerance and understanding for the opinions of others, and a letting go of all pettiness, so that every day of the coming year 2018 will be a pleasantly lived one for all of us.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
