Czech Hemophilia Society Annual Award for Silvie Bereňová

Starting in 2009, the CSH Council decided to bestow its Annual Award. The recipient of the Annual Award was chosen by the Council based on nominations. The Annual Award is an expression of recognition and gratitude from the haemophilia community to the person who has contributed the most through help, ideas, performed an exceptional deed, or conversely worked for a long time for the benefit of those in need. The laureate can be anyone from among healthcare professionals, members, sponsors, representatives of official institutions, supporters - in short, anyone who deserves the gratitude of the association and its members for their extraordinary achievement or long-term effort.

Past recipients of the award include: MUDr. Zdena Vorlová; František Vondryska; Michal Šťastný, Veronika Čepeláková and Vladimír Dolejš.

The association's Council decided to present the Annual Award in 2020 as part of World Haemophilia Day celebrations. Unfortunately, due to the epidemiological situation, we kept postponing the presentation until the electoral conference, which took place at the end of November 2021.

The laureate of the Annual Award for 2019 is a woman who was present at the founding of Hemojunior and served as its vice-chairwoman from its very inception until 2019. In 2019, she officially stepped down from her position, yet she continues to prepare stays for families with children. She created programmes for preschool children at the "small" camp in Bělč nad Orlicí, leaving behind many unforgettable experiences. With enthusiasm and tireless energy, she created great adventures for children during camp-wide games, contributed to the overall programme and education of families at Hemojunior events. She also played a major role in the distribution of identification items for people with haemophilia and von Willebrand disease. This year, she organised a meeting of women who attended the historically first stay 20 years ago. She is a co-author of a newly emerging brochure for carriers and a mother of a person with haemophilia.

It is our honour that the laureate of the Czech Hemophilia Society Annual Award for 2019 is Silvie Bereňová.
