Hemophilia patients head to Landek...
ČSH

...or World Hemophilia Day celebrations in Ostrava on 27 April 2019. We have decided to invite members of both organizations to Landek Park in Ostrava, where we will once again commemorate the day dedicated to hemophilia patients around the world. On 17 April 2019, it will be thirty years since the World Federation of Hemophilia, in honor of the birth of Frank Schnabel, its founder, designated this date as World Hemophilia Day. During this period, the whole world dresses in red, prominent buildings in world capitals are illuminated, and various happenings, press conferences, and social gatherings of those connected with hemophilia take place. The Czech Republic is not lagging behind in this regard.
The tradition of gatherings of members of the Czech Hemophilia Society and Hemojunior has also become firmly established in our memory, offering the opportunity to explore many interesting corners of our country. For more than
ten years, we have been traveling across the republic. This time the choice fell on the long-awaited Moravian-Silesian Region. In the grounds of the former Anselm black coal mine, there is now a unique mining museum. This interesting site maps the history of coal mining in the region and also focuses on the settlement history of Landek and the entire Ostrava-Karvina mining district. The grounds feature surface exhibitions of machines and equipment, a reconstruction of a mammoth hunters' settlement, an underground exhibition - descending by mine cage into the underground, 250 meters of mine corridors, simulations of mining workplaces, shafts from the first half of the 19th century, and a mine rescue exhibition - the largest exhibition of its kind in the world.
Come and experience a real shift just like the miners once did. With authentic rumbling noise, we will descend into the mine underground, ride the original mining train from the 1960s, and view the mine rescue exhibition. And those who lack the courage can take advantage of the countless other opportunities in the park, or simply sit with friends over a cup of coffee or something good to eat.
We will meet on Saturday, 27 April 2019. Participation requires, as always, carefully filling out the registration form, no later than Wednesday, 10 April 2019. Do not delay in filling it out. Due to high demand, we may be forced to close registration early.
The Landek grounds are largely barrier-free and the exhibitions are accessible to those with limited mobility. The World Hemophilia Day celebrations will be based in the old hall, the so-called Compressor Hall, where light refreshments, lunch, and beverages will be provided throughout the day. This is where we will gather for the joint program throughout the event. This hall will be reserved exclusively for our group. Parking is available directly in the grounds, about 100 meters from the Compressor Hall. Children who enjoy riding scooters, tricycles, bicycles, or rollerblades can use the various paths and trails of the extensive grounds. Please note, however, that sports equipment must be brought along, as the park does not offer rentals!
